Mission
Statement
and Philosophy Carter's Gymnastics Academy ,
Inc.
Our goal is to provide the facilities, equipment, coaching and program to enable every gymnast to reach their full gymnastics potential. The Mission Statement:
...all while helping them to master and refine
gymnastics' skills.
Unifying Principles of Coaching 1. Unconditional Respect - Respect is absolutely unconditional. 2. Trustworthiness - Progress toward the mission statement is only possible when there exists a strong foundation of trust. Trust is possible only with an individual coach's dedication to be trustworthy. 3. Teamwork - Coaches must set ego aside in favor of working together and for the achievement of goals and the missions statement. Personal preference must be set aside if it is not in harmony with the group and the mission. 4. Open Communication - Communication must be open and forthright: Communication
2. if in disagreement with another, speak only with the person with whom you disagree and who can help resolve the problem; 3. all criticism or potentially embarrassing comments should always be made in private; 4. seek first to understand, then to be understood. 5. Perpetual Growth Growth
2. Professional growth; 3. Company growth. Company growth is a natural by-product of paying attention to the first two. There is no such thing as the status quo: there is only growth or degradation. 4. Reverence for your Gym and the Sport - The sport and your gym require your respect. Many people depend upon your gym for their growth and recreation (the kids) as well as their livelihood (the employees). As an employee, you are responsible for defending
and protecting your gym's
Why Take Gymnastics? Movement is the basis of every sport, and the sport of gymnastics trains the body how to move with precision. In many countries, gymnastics is taught as the basis for all other sports. The obvious physical benefits derived from gymnastics are strength, flexibility, speed, grace, and balance. Less obvious, but perhaps more important benefits are self confidence, perseverance, discipline, and courage. Gymnastics is training for life.
We believe in these times that gymnastics training can be the most complete
provider of physical education for a young person. We offer programs designed
for every age and for every ability.
Our belief is that children should learn in a fun, safe and positive environment. Our progressive program of gymnastics skills allows children to learn skills and movements. Our program develops a positive self-image and encourages them to lead healthy lives. We help children soar. Motivation

Our 10 Teaching Principles 1. Unconditional respect: We offer and insist upon unconditional respect between teacher and student. Humiliating, embarrassing, demeaning or hurtful behavior is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. 2. Keep the kids safe: This is done through vigilance, awareness and safe training methods. 3. Clearly communicate expectations: Tell the kids what you expect of them. 4. Catch the kids doing things right: Focus on things gone right rather than things gone wrong. 5. Discipline with natural consequences: The natural and unpleasant consequences of poor decisions should form the basis of our discipline, not punishment. 6. Enthusiasm: It shows you care and inspires others to care. 7. We offer daily challenges: Going past perceived limitations is the only way to stretch and grow. 8. We offer daily successes: A sense of accomplishment is one of the most powerful motivators to try again when the going gets tough. 9. Perpetual motion: Kids learn by doing, not by sitting or standing in line. 10. Creativity, variety, fun: Kids learn best when there is an element
of fun built into the training environment.
